Alice6

Alice6 was a small TV Drama penned by Chiaki J. Konaka (Serial Experiments Lain, Digimon Tamers) and directed by his brother Kazuya Konaka in 1995. It is unique because it was part of a short lived concept of "Area Code Dramas" which means that they are TV dramas made specifically only for broadcast in certain specific regions of Japan, and I suppose were intended to be culturally relevant to said areas. This one in particular was broadcast late at night only in Shizuoka and Niigata from April to June 1995. Unfortunately this also doomed pretty much all of these shows to being lost media. It was the first TV series that the Konaka brothers (Chiaki/writer, Kazuya/director) worked on together. Despite the extremely low budget, they changed the theme of each episode to science fiction, horror, and fantasy, and experimented with special makeup, miniature work, digital matte painting, CGI, and so on. They got to get away with quite a lot in terms of content and such, even with their very tight time and budgetary constrictions.
