Arctic Ice Railroad Season 1

Follow an elite crew battling ferocious weather and treacherous terrain to keep one of the world’s more remote railroad rolling through winter.

The Ontario Northland Railroad – known as the ‘Arctic Polar Express’ – runs through 1,125km of dense forestland up to the secluded James Bay, the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’ in Canada. No matter how brutal the conditions, these hardcore teams must work together to transport huge freight, undertake essential track engineering, clear snow and ice, and maintain trains and railroad infrastructure – as well as deliver crucial supplies to communities living in the frozen, remote North. A follow-up to the popular Railroad Alaska series, Extreme Ice Railroad offers another action-packed blend of ambitious engineering, spectacular landscapes and incredible human endeavour.
